AIR SUPPORT’s Annual Customer Satisfaction Survey: Insights from the Users

Every year at AIR SUPPORT, we invite our customers to share their thoughts through our Customer Satisfaction Survey. Their feedback helps us understand what is working well, where we can improve, and how we can continue developing solutions and services that support daily flight operations worldwide.

We owe a big thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in the latest Customer Satisfaction Survey. Your feedback is an important part of how we prioritize future improvements across both our software solutions and customer support.

The Operational Users Have Their Say
This year, we are especially happy to see who the respondents are. Over three quarters of respondents work as Flight Operations Managers, OCC Managers, Dispatchers, or Ground Operations Managers. These are the people who rely on PPS Flight Planning and OpsControl Flight Tracking every day to plan, monitor, and manage flight operations. Their feedback provides valuable insight into how our solutions perform in real operational environments and helps ensure that future improvements address the challenges they face.

Years of Trust and Collaboration
The latest survey also highlights the long-term relationships we have built with many of our customers. More than half of the respondents have been using our software for over seven years, with many having trusted our solutions for more than two decades.

We are incredibly grateful for that trust. Working closely with our customers over many years has not only strengthened our partnerships but has also played a key role in shaping the development of our software. Many of the features and improvements introduced over the years have originated from customer dialogue, making these long-term relationships invaluable to both AIR SUPPORT and the operators we serve.

Ten Years of Consistent Customer Feedback
This year’s survey marks another year in a process that has now been running for a decade. For the past 10 years, we have asked our customers many of the same questions, supplemented each year with questions about topics that are particularly relevant at the time.

Keeping the core questions consistent allows us to track how customer satisfaction develops over time and measure our own performance from year to year. This long-term perspective is valuable when deciding where to focus our efforts, helping us understand how well we are meeting customer expectations, and where there is room for improvement.

So, for us, the survey provides valuable insights that help us decide where to focus our attention next.

Continued High Satisfaction with Customer Service
The survey once again shows consistently high satisfaction with the customer service.

Overall, 91% of respondents said they were satisfied with the support provided by our Support Team. Based on the responses across the satisfaction scale, this resulted in a Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) score of 90.8. In other words, the 91% figure shows how many respondents were satisfied, while the CSAT score reflects the overall satisfaction level across all responses.

Satisfaction with support response time also remained high, with a CSAT score of 90.0.

For us, these results are about more than numbers. Flight operations never stop, and when customers contact our Support Team, they need timely and knowledgeable assistance. Maintaining a consistently high satisfaction level reflects our commitment to providing reliable support whenever our customers need us.

PPS Flight Planning Customer Satisfaction (CSAT)

Strong and Improving Results for PPS Flight Planning
Customer satisfaction with PPS Flight Planning also remains strong and increased slightly from last year. 88.7% of respondents said they were satisfied with the system, resulting in a CSAT score of 88.6.

Here too, the two figures provide slightly different perspectives on the result. The 88.7% represents the respondents who rated themselves as satisfied, while the CSAT score of 88.6 takes the responses across the satisfaction scale into account. The percentage of dissatisfied users also decreased compared to last year's survey, making the overall result a positive indication of continued customer satisfaction with PPS Flight Planning.

We see this as an important confirmation that continuous development makes a difference. Every new feature, performance improvement, and usability enhancement is driven by a desire to help dispatchers and flight operations teams work more efficiently, safely, and confidently.

Customers Gladly Recommend AIR SUPPORT
Another encouraging result is our Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 50.4.

An NPS above 50 is widely regarded as an excellent result in the software industry. More importantly, it shows that many of our customers are willing to recommend PPS Flight Planning and OpsControl Flight Tracking to colleagues and peers. Recommendations are built on trust, and we are proud that so many customers are confident enough to share their positive experiences with others.

At AIR SUPPORT, customer feedback is much more than an annual survey. It is an essential part of how we develop our software.

Many of the improvements introduced over the years have originated from conversations with customers, feature requests, annual surveys, forums, and the close collaboration between our users, support team, and developers.

This close collaboration helps ensure that our solutions continue to evolve alongside the operational challenges faced by airlines and aircraft operators.

Maintaining full situational awareness is critical for any OCC. Dispatchers must monitor live flights, react quickly to operational changes, and ensure compliance with evolving operational conditions. With OpsControl® 3.0, AIR SUPPORT introduces several new capabilities designed to strengthen real-time monitoring, improve dispatcher workflow, and support more informed operational decisions. The new version builds on OpsControl’s existing global flight tracking and flight watch capabilities, while introducing enhanced tracking sources, improved visualization, smarter notifications, and new operational planning tools.

Avoid Loss of Tracking with ACARS

One of the key enhancements in OpsControl 3.0 is support for ACARS-based tracking.

While many operators rely on satellite or terrestrial tracking sources, these signals can occasionally be interrupted or degraded. ACARS data, transmitted directly from the aircraft via the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System, provides an additional and highly reliable source of flight information.

By integrating ACARS position reports into OpsControl, operators can:

Reduce the risk of tracking gaps
Receive position reports directly from the aircraft
Monitor route deviations or diversions in near real time

ACARS data can be used alongside other tracking sources or configured as a backup layer, ensuring dispatchers maintain flight visibility even if other sources are temporarily unavailable.

Introducing the “What-If” Airport Suitability Check Tool

OpsControl has traditionally focused on live operational monitoring, but version 3.0 introduces a new planning capability through the What-If tool. The What-If tool allows dispatchers to perform an airport suitability check by analyzing potential routes between a departure airport, destination, and alternate airports. By entering key flight parameters such as departure time, estimated arrival time, and alternate options, dispatchers can analyze operational suitability based on factors such as weather conditions, NOTAMs (optional module), and airport restrictions.

This makes the tool valuable both for dispatch decision-making and automated dispatch workflows, helping operators evaluate operational options before a flight departs or when conditions change.

Smarter NOTAM Handling with Acknowledgement

NOTAM management is an essential but often repetitive task in the OCC environment.

OpsControl 3.0 introduces a new NOTAM acknowledgement feature that allows dispatchers to confirm that a NOTAM has been reviewed and addressed. Once a dispatcher acknowledges a NOTAM while working on a flight, the acknowledgement can optionally apply to all flights affected by that NOTAM for its entire validity period. This means other dispatchers working later shifts do not need to re-evaluate the same NOTAM if the operational action has already been determined.

Operators can configure this behavior at account level, choosing whether NOTAM acknowledgement should apply only during the dispatcher’s shift or for the entire validity period of the NOTAM.

This feature helps reduce duplicated effort while ensuring that operational decisions remain clearly documented and traceable.

A New Map with Improved Performance and Operational Layers

OpsControl 3.0 also introduces a completely updated map interface.

The new map improves performance while providing dispatchers with greater flexibility through multiple operational layers. These layers allow users to visualize relevant information such as weather data, NOTAMs, and other operational elements directly within the flight monitoring view.

Combined with the live flight list, the map now provides a clearer operational overview. Flights can be visually highlighted when attention is required, allowing dispatchers to quickly identify potential issues across the fleet. The improved map performance ensures smooth interaction even when monitoring large fleets or multiple operational layers simultaneously.

Maintaining Fleet Overview with Follow Fleet

OpsControl also provides a Follow Fleet mode within Flight Watch, supporting a continuous overview of all active aircraft.

When activated, the map automatically adjusts to keep the entire fleet in one view as aircraft move, ensuring that all active flights remain visible without manual interaction.

This is particularly useful when OpsControl is used as a live dashboard, helping dispatchers maintain situational awareness and quickly identify flights that require attention.

Visualizing Flight Progress with Vertical Profile

This helps provide a clearer understanding of altitude changes and supports identification of deviations that may impact fuel consumption or timing.

OpsControl includes a Vertical Profile view within Flight Watch, providing a live graphical overview of the aircraft’s altitude profile throughout the flight.

The view displays tracking data and flight events in a timeline, with each point representing a recorded position. Dispatchers can hover over points to access details such as time, flight level, and position, while a moving indicator shows the current status of the flight.

A Centralized Notification Center

Monitoring multiple flights requires the ability to quickly identify events that require attention.

OpsControl 3.0 introduces a new Notification Center, bringing together alerts, warnings, and informational messages into a single structured interface.

With the new notification center, dispatchers can:

View notifications directly within the flight list
Filter notifications by severity (information, warning, or alert)
Search and sort notifications to focus on relevant operational events

Flights requiring attention are clearly highlighted both in the flight list and on the map, helping dispatchers prioritize tasks and maintain situational awareness across the operation.

It is also possible to configure how notifications appear in the user interface, choosing whether alerts should appear as pop-ups, dialogs, or within the notification tray.

Supporting Smarter, Faster Operational Decisions

Together, the new features in OpsControl 3.0 enhance both situational awareness and operational efficiency within the OCC.

By combining improved tracking reliability, clearer operational visualization, smarter notification management, and new planning tools, dispatch teams gain a stronger foundation for managing daily flight operations.

In December 2025, we received our official FF-ICE certification, meaning all PPS X 1.2 customers are fully FF-ICE compliant through their flight planning system.

This milestone follows extensive regulatory work by AIR SUPPORT’s Development and Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance teams in close cooperation with EUROCONTROL, ensuring PPS X was aligned with FF-ICE requirements well ahead of the implementation deadline.

At AIR SUPPORT, customer satisfaction survey is at the heart of everything we do. Every year, we conduct a customer satisfaction survey to ensure that we continue to meet and exceed the expectations of our global user base. In December 2024, we reached out to our customers, and we’re proud to share the results from 103 participating, anonymous companies—a 20% response rate, reflecting the high level of engagement from our users worldwide.

A Diverse Customer Base

AIR SUPPORT is trusted by operators worldwide within a broad spectrum of the aviation industry, catering to a wide range of operational needs, challenges, and requirements. Our ability to support such a wide range of users speaks to the flexibility, reliability, and adaptability of our solutions. The types of operators are as follows:

Our Support Team is a dedicated professionals, led by Chief Customer Support Officer Henrik Holm, with the assistance of four managers, each with their own area of responsibility. Our support staff is organized into specialized teams, each focused on its core competencies. Uniquely, all helpdesk and support employees also serve as Client Account Managers, ensuring personalized and knowledgeable service for each customer.

Every new team member undergoes a comprehensive internal education program under the guidance of experienced staff members. This thorough training process ensures that all employees are well-prepared to meet our high service standards. The manager of the team oversees continuous training and live competency assessments to maintain and enhance skills.

Our latest customer service survey, conducted in January 2024, received 75 responses from a diverse group of operators, including General/Business Aviation, Government Operations, Flight Service Providers, and Airline/Cargo Operations. Respondents held various positions, such as Flight Dispatcher, OCC Manager, Pilot, and CEO, reflecting a broad spectrum of perspectives.

The survey revealed high levels of customer satisfaction:

Furthermore, we handle approximately 20.000 inquiries annually via email, with 50-60% resolved in one touch and 70% of tickets responded to within eight hours. Impressively, 40% of emails receive a response within the first hour.
