From Operational Challenges to Practical Solutions: Flight Planning and Tracking with AIR SUPPORT

October 29, 2026

Flight dispatchers and flight operations teams deal with a constant flow of information, changing operational requirements, and decisions that need to be made quickly. When planning involves too much manual work or tracking information is spread across different sources, it becomes harder to work efficiently and stay focused on what really needs attention.

Aircraft IT webinar

In this webinar, hosted by Aircraft IT, AIR SUPPORT will take a practical look at how PPS Flight Planning® and OpsControl® Flight Tracking can help solve some of these everyday challenges. With a particular focus on the dispatcher’s perspective, the session will use two practical scenarios to show how flight operations software can reduce manual workload, simplify complex tasks, improve operational visibility, and help users make better decisions. Rather than a traditional product presentation, the presenters will discuss common operational problems and demonstrate how the software can be applied to real workflows.

Practical Use Cases, Not Just Product Features

The webinar will use two different user perspectives to look at two sides of the daily flight operations workflow.

PPS Flight Planning

Focuses on reducing manual planning work, automating repetitive tasks, and connecting the different steps of flight planning and dispatch in one integrated workflow.

Flight planning involves more than calculating a route. Dispatchers need to manage aircraft and crew data, fuel requirements, regulatory information, filing procedures, and outputs for other operational systems, often under time pressure.

In the PPS Flight Planning® use case, Simone Deserti will take the role of the user, with Lasse Nilsson guiding the conversation around common planning challenges and demonstrating how PPS supports the process from initial planning through dispatch.

Using a real-world flight, the session will demonstrate how operators can:

  • Reduce manual workload: Follow the guided PPS X workflow, with clear status checks at each stage, while ATC information, Item 18 data and the ATC flight plan preview are generated automatically.
  • Automate planning and filing: See how AutoDispatch supports batch planning, automatic route selection and optimisation, flight plan filing, and data exports to connected systems and EFBs.
  • Connect planning with dispatch: Upload the completed flight package to CrewBriefing and other connected systems, while generating outputs such as load sheets, RAIM predictions, Runway Analysis, Enroute Terrain Analysis (DriftDown), and ATC sheets and charts.
  • Handle complex planning requirements: Explore Advanced ETOPS/EDTO flight planning and the enhanced Aircraft Editor for managing aircraft performance data.

The focus will be on how automation, integrated workflows, and advanced planning capabilities can help dispatchers spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time on the decisions that require their attention.

OpsControl

Focuses on maintaining operational visibility, reducing information overload, and helping dispatchers identify where attention is actually needed.

Dispatchers and OCC teams need visibility across an operation, but monitoring every flight, message, weather development, NOTAM, and tracking update can quickly create information overload.

Simone Deserti, drawing on his previous experience as a flight dispatcher, will take the role of the user in a practical conversation with Karl-Emil Dalsgaard Pantzar. Together, they will explore common dispatcher and OCC challenges and demonstrate how OpsControl® can help address them.

The session will explore how OpsControl can help operators:

  • Focus on what requires action through a Management by Exception approach that highlights relevant flights and events
  • Reduce tracking gaps by combining ACARS with other tracking sources
  • Keep operational information in one place by bringing flight, weather, and NOTAM information together
  • Reduce the workload of monitoring NOTAMs with dedicated NOTAM Management
  • Respond faster to changing conditions by providing relevant operational information when it matters
  • Maintain situational awareness without constant monitoring by filtering information and highlighting operational priorities

The focus will be on how OpsControl can help dispatchers cut through information overload, maintain a clearer overview, and act faster when something requires attention.

Together, the two use cases show how software can support the people behind the operation, not just the processes themselves.

Missed Our Previous Webinars?

Want to learn more about OpsControl before joining the live session? You can watch our previous OpsControl webinars on demand.

Our previous sessions have covered the latest developments in OpsControl and shown how its Management by Exception approach can help dispatchers reduce operational noise, improve situational awareness, and focus on the flights and events that require attention.

These recordings provide a useful introduction to OpsControl and its capabilities. In the upcoming Aircraft IT webinar, we’ll take a broader, practical look at both flight planning and flight tracking, focusing on the challenges users face in their daily work and how software can help address them.
